Final Silent Edit Number One

I cleaned up my most successful rough edit to create this final edit. Not much has changed, but it functions better as is now.

Final Silent Edit Number Two

The distance between the video and the photos was to much in my first edit of this piece. I believe I solved that problem and allowed the brain time to calm from viewing motion to simple image. Also I have allowed the brain to associate an image before moving it again.

Tempo. Its all about a constant tempo.

Noah Working

Ive tried to add more action to the art while keeping it simple and on the "no" side of special FX. This is my friend Noah's journey through Brookfield Skate Park.

I wanted to blend photo art of the park with action shots of skateboarding only using "cuts" This is what came of it.

Coping Video

Ive been reading the book "In the Blink of an Eye" by Walter Murch. He talks about when to cut a scene, why and when not to. For what I have read so far I have tried to take apply the idea of keeping the viewers eyes in a spasific point with this rough piece. I also added a little transition in the beginning and end (even though this is only a rough edit) because I like to greet people when they enter my home and to also wish them well as they leave. Same concept.

Grass Video

After cutting up the first video I was bothered with all of the green grass taking away from the focal point I was trying to achieve in a rough edit. Walter Murch talks about second guessing himself from his first thoughts on what scenes work and what scenes dont. Second guessing yourself isnt a bad thing, it can open up other doors and options for editing. I then realized that if it is really taking that much attention away from a piece, why not work with it as a piece. The grass in this piece has now gone from something to avoid to something to watch. The sinner becomes a saint.

I like the idea of making videos with photographs and no sound. The key, I think, with making them "work" is to create a tempo. This is my first edit of a video piece Im working on using photos.

Primary Light Directive Two

For my second light capturing method I have chosen to try and only get images of only barely discernible lines. Moving images of these two sorts (see first post) will be posted soon on this blog page. Enjoy.

Prim Light Directive One

I have chosen to Attempt to capture images with my camera where camera movement looks like object movement and vice versa. This will be one of two primary light capturing methods.
